Creating Proxy Domain for URL Shortening
Reteno uses the esclick.me domain for URL wrapping by default. However, you can make communication with your users more consistent and recognizable by creating your own proxy domain to shorten links, such as yourbrandname.link.
Creating Proxy Domain
- In the DNS settings of your proxy domain, create the
CNAMErecord with thessl.esclick.mevalue. - Follow the manual on short links settings.
The Default esclick.me Subdomain
esclick.me SubdomainUntil you connect your own proxy domain, links are wrapped in a default subdomain such as xxx.esclick.me. The label in it is generated from the name you entered when the account was registered, and it can't be edited in settings ā contact support if you need it changed.
There is one such label per account, so you can't get a separate default subdomain for another product inside the same account. If different products need different short-link domains, either connect a custom proxy domain or use a separate account for each product.
NoteOne short-link domain ā the default
esclick.mesubdomain or a custom one ā applies to the whole account and to all senders in it. It can't be selected per message or per sender.
Switching to Another Domain
After you switch to another short-link domain, links in messages that were already sent stop working, because they point to the domain that is no longer active. If links in previously sent emails must keep working, keep the original domain active instead of switching.
