Using Annoyance Safeguard

When you show floating widgets on your site, they may show simultaneously or immediately one after the other. This may cause annoyance to the site visitors, and they may leave your site in a short time.

You can use our Annoyance Safeguard to avoid such situations for the following widget layouts:

  • Floating box
  • Floating bar
  • Popup

Silent Interval does not affect the following widgets:

  • Inline
  • Verify Age
  • Launcher

Setting Silent Interval

To set the Silent Interval:

  1. Expand your account menu and select Settings from the dropdown list.

    • Another widget has to be displayed together with this one

    • Another widget is displayed on the screen

    • Another widget has been displayed recently

The following rules are available:

  • Show: The widget will appear even if others are already on screen.
  • Show in sequence using Silent interval: If another widget is already displayed or was shown recently, this widget will be displayed after the previous one is closed and the Silent interval has elapsed (3 minutes by default).
  • Do not show during the current session: The widget is skipped if another widget has already been shown.

Note:

A user session is a period of activity on a website where the platform script is installed. The session ends after 30 minutes of inactivity.

Note

  • By default, the Show in sequence using Silent interval rule applies to all new and unpublished widgets.
  • When the Show in sequence using Silent interval rule is applied, the widgets with more precise settings are shown earlier.
  • The Show rule applies if you have 2 or more published widgets.
  1. Click Save.

Overlap Protection

Overlap Protection determines how widgets interact when more than one is triggered at the same time. It prevents a new widget from interfering with a widget that is already displayed on the screen.

The behavior depends on how the current widget is displayed and the format of the next widget. The diagram in the settings shows all interaction options for the launcher, floating bar, floating box, popup, and fullscreen widget.

The following outcomes are possible:

  • Shown above the previous one.
  • Shown under the previous one and will be visible after the previous one will be closed.
  • Shown after Silent Interval.
  • Won’t be shown.

For example:

  • If a launcher is already displayed on the screen, a floating bar, floating box, popup, or fullscreen widget can appear above it, but another launcher won’t be shown.
  • If a floating bar, floating box, or popup is displayed, another widget of these formats will be shown after the Silent Interval. A launcher will appear under the current widget and become visible after it is closed, while a fullscreen widget can appear above it.
  • If a fullscreen widget is displayed, a launcher, floating bar, floating box, or popup will appear under it and become visible after it is closed. Another fullscreen widget won’t be shown.
