Working with Reteno Using AI Agents
Once the Reteno plugin or skills are installed, you can work with your Reteno account through natural language. This article covers the main use cases and includes prompt examples you can use directly.
Editing Email Templates
The agent can read an email template from Reteno, make text edits, and save them back — either updating the original or creating a new template as a copy.
- What can be changed: text inside content blocks, subject line, preheader
- What stays unchanged: layout and structure, images and links, inline styles and builder markup
Review and improve:
- Read email template ID 3935987 and suggest improvements to the copy.
Edit and save:
- Open template ID 3935987. Shorten the subject line to under 50 characters and rewrite the CTA button to say "Start now". Save the changes.
Add a language variant:
- Open template ID 3935987 and add a German language variant. Translate all visible text into German.
Prepare an A/B test variant:
- Clone template ID 3935987. Change the subject line to "You're almost there" and rewrite the first paragraph to focus on time savings. Save as "Welcome – Variant B".
Turning Onboarding Flows Into Email Briefs
The Web Funnel Analyzer opens a URL in a browser, automatically walks through each step of an onboarding quiz or multi-step form, and captures screenshots and text at every screen. The output is a structured summary.md with messaging themes, psychological hooks, CTA progression, and email-writing recommendations.
Use it to analyze your own onboarding flow before writing activation emails, or to understand how a new acquisition channel frames user expectations.
Analyze a funnel:
- Analyze the onboarding quiz at https://app.example.com/onboarding and generate a funnel summary.
Turn the analysis into an email sequence:
- Based on the funnel summary you just generated, write a 3-email welcome sequence. Match the messaging themes from the quiz.
Managing Contacts, Messages, and Data
Through the Reteno MCP connection, the agent can work with contacts, segments, events, and message templates directly. No commands needed — describe what you want and the agent will use the right tools automatically.
Contacts and segments:
- Add these contacts to Reteno: [paste list of names and emails]. Tag them as "Webinar – March 2025".
- Create a static segment called "Churned users – Q1" and add the following contact IDs: 10023, 10045, 10089.
- Show me the recent message history for contact ID 58821.
Events:
- Send a PurchaseCompleted event for contact ID 58821 with these properties: plan = "Pro", amount = 49.
Messages:
- Send an SMS to contact ID 58821 using template ID 1234.
- Create a new mobile push template called "Re-engagement – Day 7" with this title and body: [paste text].
📘 Tip: Give the agent context about your business
The agent works better when it understands your business, brand voice, and content rules. Add reusable guidance so it can apply that context automatically in future tasks.
- In Claude Cowork, add standing instructions in Settings → Cowork → Global instructions.
- In OpenAI Codex, add the same guidance to custom instructions or your project's AGENTS.md file.
Example: "We're a B2C fitness app. Brand voice is friendly and motivating. Always use sentence case for subject lines."
Specific guidance helps the agent stay consistent across editing, writing, and analysis tasks.
